The Chief Corporate Officer of Slovenská sporiteľňa organizes and directs the Bank’s overall corporate banking activities in support of the Bank’s strategic and operating goals and objectives.

 

He/she is responsible for the development and implementation of corporate banking policies, products, and strategies, with accountability for sales, service, risk and operational delivery in line with regulatory requirements. In alignment with the Board of the Bank he/she develops and deploys digital business channels. As a senior officer and member of the Bank’s Management Board, participates in strategic planning and general Bank management activities. Furthermore, the incumbent supports the Erste Group’s Corporate- and business strategy in alignment with the Corporate Board of Erste Group Bank AG. The Chief Corporate Officer signs responsibility for various business streams consistent of around 400 employees.

Main Responsibilities:


Strategy

 

  • As a senior officer and member of the Bank’s Management Board, participates in formulating strategic and operating goals and objectives for the bank
  • Develops effective strategies to manage customer relationships, anticipate customer needs and provide a superior quality service to develop Slovenská sporiteľňa as the local market leader
  • Manages change and develops improvements to operating models, procedures and practices based on subject matter expertise, Group policies and market best practice 
  • Oversees the marketing strategies and works closely with other members of management in the formulation of product policy and pricing decisions
  • Develops and implements sales and service strategies; develops sales goals and monitors performance to budget
  • Acts as active member of  Group Corporate Board and provides a strong input to foster the empowerment of corporates bank’s strategy
  • Positions Slovenská sporiteľňa as a key component into the overall corporate strategy and supports the development of Slovenská sporiteľňa product portfolios, investments and reports in line with EBG Corporate  strategy

 

 

Digitalization

 

  • Monitors and ensures alignment with economic, cultural, geographical, procedural and regulatory requirements and ensures that Slovenská sporiteľňa  is front-runner and partner in the development of digital banking
  • Maintains a competitive technological edge within the market by recommending new products and strategies
  • Cooperates closely with Erste Digital on the further implementation and roll out of IT Banking services throughout Slovenská sporiteľňa

 


Operational Excellence & Compliance

 

  • Contributes to the implementation and monitoring of the application of policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance - ensures full compliance with local & regional banking regulations
  • Ensures that tracking and reporting systems are in place to effectively identify customer activities and trends, sales, and transaction volumes to maximize profitability  
  • Supports Banking Services & Operations to streamline processes & procedures to drive the company’s effectiveness
  • Leadership, Cooperation & Communication
  • Provides strong leadership to all Corporate Banking teams Slovenská sporitelňa /Erste Group
  • Establishes and maintains a highly effective and efficient personnel-planning, provides continuing development of subordinate managers and staff, conducts periodic performance reviews; identifies training and/or performance needs and ensures appropriate action as well as identifies key players to put the right people into the right positions 
  • Puts Diversity and Inclusion within the bank as a top priority
  • Represents the Bank through active participation in community and industry activities that promote the Bank’s interests
  • In close cooperation with Brand HUB, participates in the development and delivery of public relations and communication programs
  • Communicates and adheres to Slovenská sporiteľňa policy and procedures

 

 

Desired Candidate Profile


Background

 

  • Proper formal educational background (Relevant University degree, eg. Banking / Finance), the successful candidate should speak English fluently, Slovak/Czech language is an advantage and any other additional language is a plus  
  • Proven Track Record of at least 7 years in a similar position (Board or B-1) in the bank/similar corporate banking division or other corporate financial services company
  • A proven leader who has a vast experience within the banking sector (specifically in the Corporate -Sector) and is aware of the regulatory directives under which the bank must operate. 
  • Fit and Proper as Board Member of a European Bank

The ideal candidate will possess the poise and gravitas to successfully represent the organization in numerous external forums 
  • He/she will have seasoned business judgment, board-level stature, superior conflict management skills, a passion for increasing shareholder value and improving processes across the organization. An exceptional leader with a strong character, personal integrity and a motivator of people and teams
  • Robust and straight-forward combined with diplomacy and sensitivity to different points of view. Able to stand his/her ground in a constructive fashion but then commit and support the team decision wholeheartedly
  • Strong commercial attitude with a deep interest in the performance of the business and the commercial story behind the numbers
  • Experience with working in Agile ecosystems is the advantage
