One of the leading banks in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), Erste Group Bank AG is mobilizing finance for a climate-resilient, lower carbon and more equitable society. We are looking for the right person to join Erste Group’s ESG Office and help us implement the transition to a net-zero portfolio by 2050 and net-zero banking operations by 2030.
This role is very varied. You might be driving improvements in our CSRD reporting one day - or engaging with regulators in the European Central Bank – while the next you could be hosting workshops. Our team’s work can be fast-paced and cutting-edge, addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing business and society.
Your Tasks
Reporting to the Group Head of ESG you will work in these areas:

Governance:
-
Work cross-functionally, ensuring we have a strong understanding of legal, regulatory and public policy measures in sustainability

Monitor and analyze ESG regulatory developments in the banking sector and industries affecting our clients across CEE countries and share updates across the organization

Periodically review and update our sustainability policies and internal frameworks based on changing regulations and expectations

CSRD Reporting and ESG Project Coordination:

Support the organization and its ESG Group Office to implement and enhance CSRD reporting

Build awareness and understanding across the organisation

- Stakeholder Engagement with Regulators:
- Play an active part in consultations on ESG topics with regulators such as the European Central Bank (ECB)
- Collaborate, coordinate and lead on key input and feedback from the Group, ensuring a clear strategic approach
- Internal Stakeholder Management:
- Initiatives or contributes to business activities, ensuring an ESG perspective is integrated and knowledge on specific climate, environmental and social topics is shared
Your Background
-
Excellent knowledge of ESG and around five years’ experience of working in ESG – preferably already including CSRD reporting, but not essential

Great relationship-building and engagement skills – you need to be comfortable working with teams across the Group, countries and functions

You should be able to lead and influence others but understand that the results we need come through collaboration

Have strong business acumen – you should be able to come up with ideas and deliver projects that benefit the bank and the planet

Enthusiastic and keen to learn – you will need to have a good eye for detail, absorb information and be able to distil it to effectively share with others
- Fluent in German and English

- The minimum wage for this full-time position in accordance with the collective agreement with complete fulfillment of the functional profile is EUR 48.323,-- gross per year. But this is just a formality - we would be happy to talk about your actual salary in person!
