The ICAAP team within the Enterprise-wide Risk Management (ERM) division, ensures group-wide risk portfolio steering based on a holistic, cross-risk oversight of risks. We support the Erste Group’s management with a robust enterprise-wide risk management framework to ensure that the bank group has the capacity to bear its acquired risks. We also ensure that novel risk types (such as ESG, geo-political risks) are reflected in the overall risk framework.
As a member of our team, you will contribute to the further development of ICAAP methodologies and products, with a particular focus on ESG topics. Your areas of involvement will include ESG materiality assessments, the design and maintenance of ESG related limit frameworks, capital allocation concepts, and reporting. In addition, you will support the ICAAP team across a range of broader initiatives
Your Tasks
- Leading ESG‑related risk materiality assessments, particularly for credit and strategic risk, and contributing to the continuous enhancement of ICAAP’s risk identification as well as calculation and reporting of climate‑ and nature‑related concentration metrics, including preparation and presentation of dashboards in Tableau
- Maintaining and reporting on the ESG Risk Appetite Framework, while actively contributing to its further development in line with Erste Group’s strategic KPIs/KRIs and business objectives. This also includes the cascading of ESG‑related limits to local entities
- Contributing to end‑to‑end ESG reporting, covering CSRD disclosures, onboarding and quality‑checking data in the central solutions, preparing ESG Pillar 3 reports, and supporting the ESG sections of the Annual Report
- Supporting the integration of AI and advanced analytics into ICAAP workflows. A solid data‑science foundation is desired, with working knowledge of Python, Databricks, and modern data‑engineering / modelling tools
- Exhibiting the ability to interpret and analyze results, translating outputs into actionable insights for enhancing risk management strategies
- Undertake various tasks related to the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), such as refining risk methodologies, enhancing risk reporting capabilities, and implementing regulatory requirements to strengthen the overall risk steering framework
Your Background
- University degree in Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related area
- Strong quantitative and analytical mind, coupled with the ability to interpret from an economic perspective the output of risk models
- Good commands in programming languages for advanced data analytics and modeling (such as Python, R, SAS, Databricks)
- Previous internship experience in ICAAP or risk management and knowledge of the relevant regulations
- Proven track record of effectively utilizing risk models and methodologies for assessing and managing risks would be considered as a plus
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent German (first language is a plus) and English commands in written and verbal communication

- The minimum wage for this full-time position in accordance with the collective agreement with complete fulfillment of the functional profile is EUR 44.860,-- gross per year. But this is just a formality - we would be happy to talk about your actual salary in person!
